Usually I write a Freebie Friday post where you can find deals and freebies on all kinds of local goods. I didn’t find a whole lot of freebies this week, but I did find something just as good, if not better. For a donation of five cans of food, you can catch the 25th Anniversary screening of Ghostbusters at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 11! It’s kind of a freebie AND you get to help a good cause. If you missed all the movies in the cemetery this summer, now is the time to redeem yourself. It’s an opportunity not to be missed.
The members of the Entertainment Industry Leadership Institute (EILI) invite you to join them for a special evening to raise food and awareness for the hunger problem in Los Angeles, in partnership with Fed Up With Hunger, The Jewish Federation's community-wide initiative to end hunger in LA.
Sunday, October 11, 2009
Gates open at 6:00 pm.
Movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
Admission to this event is a donation of five cans of food.
You can bring your own food and alcohol. Definitely bring blankets, as it will probably get very chilly. As a courtesy to other moviegoers, please DO NOT bring tall chairs. Seating is first come, first served. Invite your friends via Facebook!
Anyone who donates a minimum of $50 to help sponsor this event will have special access through a VIP entry (no waiting in line!) To donate, click here: http://jewishla.org/donate.cfm and enter your donation amount in the bottom row titled "EILI Hunger Screening Sponsorship."
Fed Up With Hunger is a group working to end hunger in L.A. “As a community, we can feed the hungry. We can raise our collective voice to change legislation that perpetuates the issue. We can build gardens, hold food drives and demand fresh produce and healthier choices to those who have no choices. Together, we can end hunger in Los Angeles. If you’re hungry for change, if you’re fed up with hunger, if you want to do your part to make the world a better place – join our movement, and give life meaning.”
